The Boston Celtics closed out the first quarter of Monday's NBA Finals Game 5 on a 9-0 run and took a 67-46 lead over the Dallas Mavericks into halftime. The Mavericks scored three straight dunks and layups with Horford waiting to rejoin the Celtics lineup, after which Mazzulla called a timeout.
The Boston Celtics, anxious for their 18th franchise championship, instantly seized control and ambushed the Dallas Mavericks.
The Celtics enter the fourth quarter with a 15-point lead (85-70) and are just 12 minutes away from putting the Mavericks in a 3-0 hole, which would be nearly impossible to overcome.
